An American woman, Ann (other names withheld), has accused her estranged husband, Mr. Obinna Ezenwa (Egbueriaku), a former President of Students Union Government, SUG, of the Federal University of Technology, Owerri, FUTO, in 2015, and others of defrauding her of about $50,000 (about N20 million in today’s exchange rate).

According to Vanguard, others mentioned in the alleged romance scam included Vivian Ezechukwu Ginika, who would later marry Ezenwa, and Collins Anthony Obiegbule.

Hoodlums invade church, beat up pastor, hack member in Lagos

Pastor of a Celestial Church of Christ, Adewunmi Awotidoye, has been hospitalised after armed thugs invaded the church in the Jakande area of Lagos State.
The thugs, who were armed with guns and machetes, were said to have stormed the church on motorcycles during a service, beat up the cleric and also cut him with a machete.

It was gathered that the hospital, where the ‘illegal’ mortuary is located have been abandoned for years.

The PUNCH reports that goods worth millions of naira were destroyed by a late-night fire that occurred at the plaza of the Onitsha Main Market in Anambra State on Wednesday.
According to an eyewitnesses account, the fire also destroyed shops on the third floor of the three-storey building located near the main market.

Our correspondent gathered that the fire was caused by an electrical fault.
One of the traders in the market said the damage had already been done before the arrival of fire responders.

Gunmen killed Oba Ayinde Odetola, the Olu of Agodo in Ogun State’s Ewekoro Local Government Area, on Monday.
According to reports, Oba Odetola was slain and burned beyond recognition as soon as he drove into the village at 11 a.m.

We learnt that crisis began in Agodo after Odetola of Ake dynasty was elected as the traditional ruler of the town, a development the Owu people reportedly rejected, insisting that anybody from Ake cannot be their king.
While the root cause of the killing is yet to be ascertained, a sister of the late monarch, Mrs Adenike Akintade, said a brother to the late monarch was recently killed.

A woman identified as Eziada Chika Mbachu, has escaped from her son, who stabbed her with a knife severally to allegedly use her for ritual in Owerri, the Imo state capital.
The incident was said to have happened early hours of Monday, between 7am and 8am at Heroes apartment opposite Concord hotel in Owerri.

According to Vanguard, an eyewitness said the young man was the one who invited the mum in the early hours of Monday, attacked and inflicted several knife attacks on her.
