‘An unspeakable tragedy’: School identifies 2 teens killed in Ojodu crash

Yesterday, December 7, 2021, at about 02:15 pm, a DAF truck with Registration No. APP 438 YA driven by one ‘Bolaji Kabiru’ rammed into some pedestrians at Grammar School Bus Stop along Ogunnusi Road later identified as students of Bab Fafunwa Millennium School, Ojodu Junior Grammar School, Omole Junior High School.

The Ojodu Local Council Development Association in Lagos State has revealed the identities of some secondary school students who were killed and injured by a truck in the Ojodu area of the state on Tuesday.
The students were going home after closing from school around 2pm when the truck ran over them.

Lagos govt releases WHITE PAPER on #EndSARS report — Here’s what is inside….

The Lagos State Government has released its White Paper on the report submitted to it by the #EndSARS judicial panel of inquiry that probed the Lekki toll gate incident of October 20, 2020.
However, the governor dismissed the panel’s report that nine persons were killed at the toll gate when soldiers and the police shot at peaceful protesters.
Sanwo-Olu described the conclusion of the panel that nine persons were shot dead as “assumptions and speculations”.

Some home owners in Festac Phase 2 woke up to their houses being demolished on Sunday morning, Nov. 28.
This comes one day after an article announced that the Federal Housing Authority will soon begin mass demolition of buildings without approval in Festac Town.

Facebook user, Angel Nkiru took to her page to share photos of houses that have been brought down.

She wrote: “Got a bad news this morning.
“I am there and I’m crying because I have friends who have houses there.

We say N0! — #EndSARS protesters reject Gov Sanwo-Olu ‘peace walk’ invite

Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, on Tuesday called for “a walk for peace” next month for reconciliation.

The governor made this known while speaking at a press conference in Lagos.

“In December, I will be leading a walk for peace to herald the healing of our land,” he said. “Let me use this occasion to extend an open invitation to our youths, members of the diplomatic corps, civil society groups, students, and the media as well as other stakeholders to join me.”

Sanwo-Olu who said his government will not inflame already heightened tensions that stemmed from a report by a judicial panel that probed the October 2020 shooting of protesters at Lekki toll gate did not directly comment on the federal minister’s denouncement of the report.


Lagos building Collapse: Tinubu reacts as death toll rises to 15

Bola Tinubu, yesterday, called for the sanction of officials who failed in their responsibilities to prevent the building collapse, in Ikoyi area of the state. But in a statement from the media office of the former governor, Tinubu condemned the regulatory failure that led to the incident, while he also commiserated with the families of the victims.

The statement reads: “The collapse of a 21-storey building on Gerald Road in Ikoyi, Lagos, is a sad and painful incident.
“Once more and all too often, we have suffered the loss of lives for no defensible reason. This tragedy should never have occurred.
“I endorse Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s order for an investigation into this tragedy. There are many questions to ask, and all those questions deserve full and public answers.

Gov Sanwo-Olu reconstitutes interim caretaker committee for ASPMDA

“Serious agitation and discontent about the current state of affairs of ASPMDA is threatening to lead to a breakdown of law and order, owing to the failure of the Interim Caretaker Committee to comply with the directives of Mr. Governor that elections be carried out within 30 days of their appointment.

Lagos State government has directed immediate dissolution of the Interim Caretaker Committee of Auto Spare Parts & Machinery Dealers Association (ASPMDA) constituted by the state government sometime in June 2020, and chaired by Sir. Sunday Igbanuzue.

#EndSARS: Gov Sanwo-Olu vows to make judicial panel report public, directs release of all arrested and detained in Wednesday’s memorial protest

Gov. Sanwo-Olu said the EndAARS panel was set up to look into allegations of human rights abuses against the police and also determine the cause of coordinated attacks on Lagos, noting that the panel’s final report would be fully implemented. The panel concluded its sittings last Monday, after 12 months it was constituted.

Sanwo-Olu said the State Government would not make an attempt to cover up the recommendations of the panel, whether it is in its favor or not. The Governor said the panel report would be helpful in strengthening true reconciliation and preventing the re-occurrence of violence in the State.

A man has been arrested for locking up his two children inside an empty water drum because they ate food given to them by a neighbour.

Martins Omotoyosi, who lives at Lawani Ode Palace, Oke Odo area of New London Estate, Baruwa, Ipaja, Lagos state, with his children, Dorca, 8 and Oreofe 6, was arrested by police officers from the Ipaja division.

It will be Recalled that the 21-year old UNILAG Student Chidnma Adora Ojukwu, had been arrested for allegedly killing the Chief Executive Officer of Super TV, Micheal Usifo Ataga.

The Suspect confess to have stabbed the deceased with a kitchen knife after a struggle. She further confessed to have taken the knife away while leaving the scene and dispose same in a dust bin at her residence.
