Baba Ijesha: “I am ashamed of you”- Princess blasts Iya Rainbow.

https://cse.google.com/cse.js?cx=748c01c09655f7506

Comedienne, Princess, has come out to blast veteran actress, Iya Rainbow, over her recent interview with BBC Yoruba.

Iya Rainbow in her interview said she reached out to Princess to drop the case against Baba Ijesha but she refused. In her interview, Iya Rainbow said affter everything, Baba Ijesha has now been released on bail.

Princess saw the interview and has now reacted. Describing Iya Rainbow as an irresponsible mother, a visibly angry Princess said she is ashamed of the veteran actress for her comment.

”Mama Rainbow, I am ashamed of you. You are not a good mother. I regret I ever respected you. I regret that I ever saw you as a mother and grandmother.

You said you called for four days and that I did not answer you and that now they have released him.

For your information, you called me just once, telling me that I should go and release him. You were instructing me and I never disrespected you. I even took my time to explain to you. You told me that Baba Ijesha called you to help him beg me that he has offended me. I then asked you if he told you what he did and you said no he didn’t.

I then explained to you that this is what he did and you were shaking on the phone in shock. You pleaded with me to send my house address to you. On the third day, you called me saying what I disclosed to you really hurt you and that you could tell I wasn’t okay, that I was crying and I wasn’t myself. You now asked for my house address so you would come and see me. I sent you the address, you never came. You didn’t come because it didn’t affect you. You felt like I wasn’t your child. You gave birth to your own children, Mama Rainbow! When your child had issues with his Instagram page, I saw how you came out to plead. That was your child. You know how to take care of your own child but because I am another person’s child, you called me and was telling to go and release a person who was in police custody for a crime.

I was crying that day. I wasn’t happy. I explained everything to you. You were now pretending like you were a good mother. Have you come to see me since then? Have you called me since them to even check up on me? You are now saying while in court I was looking for a way to sneak out? You are an elder. What your eyes did not see you are not supposed to say it.

You can just imagine. Mama Rainbow that I held in high esteem. If I was your child or the victim was your child, would you have done that?

I did not expect this from you at all. You came and you were so insensitive to say you called me and were pleading for the case not to be escalated.

How can you say such a thing. Don’t ever! Anything that concerns me please just stay away from it because I used to respect you up until this evening. It is a shame.

If I was your child, would you come to me and say I should go and release somebody that is in police custody for a crime they are investigating? and then you go online to start saying I wanted to sneak out(of the court). Were you there? Were you with me when I was in court?

Who are you Mama Rainbow? You are supposed to be a role model, a grandmother, a strong christian?  I am ashamed of you that you can come for me in that way at your age. Are you praying for this to happen to your children or your children’s children?  If this happened to you, would you handle it this way? Must you talk Mama Rainbow.

How can you? You are an elderly woman. You should know better. You collected my home address. For what? To be sharing it among people. To be gossiping behind my back. I never said a word. Then you went online  to go and say it again. Do you think I am afraid of you? Mama Rainbow! You are not worthy of the respect I gave to you. I Princess Oluwadamilola will stand for my child till the end. I will stand for all the other victims. I will stand for any body that has been molested or defiled. You Mama Rainbow, what do you stand for? ” she said angrily .

Ekiti prophet has been sentenced to life imprisonment for death of woman seeking spiritual help.

An Ekiti State High Court sitting in Ado Ekiti on Thursday, July 1, sentenced a cleric, prophet Olakanye Oni, to life imprisonment over the death of a woman.

Oni of Christ Apostolic Church (CAC), Palace of Mercy, Olokuta, Ado-Ekiti, was accused of killing one Mrs Gbadamosi Omowale, who came to his church to seek help over her inability to conceive after seven years of marriage.

Mrs Omowale took ill and her health deteriorated after the cleric carried out a “spiritual cleansing” on her. On December 13, 2017, she died.

The Ewi of Ado-Ekiti, Oba Adeyemo Adejugbe and his council of chiefs banished the cleric following the death of the woman. According to the prosecution team led by the Director of Public Prosecutions, Ministry of Justice, Julius Ajibare, the convicted cleric committed the offence in March 2017, when, “he invited the deceased from Lagos to Ado Ekiti on the pretence that he has a solution to her barrenness.

“On getting to his Church at Palace of Mercy, Mathew Street, Odo Ado Area, Ado Ekiti, the convict hypnotised the victim and lured her into his room. He thereafter spread a white cloth on her and raped her.

“The convict used a white handkerchief to clean the victim’s private part and inserted a substance believed to be potash into her vagina. He also collected a sum of Fifty Two Thousand Naira from the victim.

The victim’s private part got decayed as a result of the substance inserted into it by the convict and this resulted in the victim’s eventual death.”

California couple fined for digging up and burying Joshua trees

A California couple has been fined for digging up and burying dozens of protected Joshua trees to make room for a home they were building, officials said.

Jeffrey Walter and Jonetta Nordberg-Walter, residents of San Bernardino County, have been ordered to pay $18,000 as part of a diversion agreement — the terms they must fulfill in order to have the 36 misdemeanor counts — one for each uprooted tree — against them dismissed.

https://cse.google.com/cse.js?cx=748c01c09655f7506

The couple has opted not to have attorneys in the case, Supervising Deputy District Attorney Douglas Poston told the media.

The media was not able to find contact information for the pair. Poston told the Los Angeles Times that the couple mistakenly believed small trees could be removed.

Poston has worked in San Bernardino County District Attorney’s Consumer Environmental Protection unit for about a decade, and although he’s dealt with cases concerning threatened or endangered wildlife, this is his first prosecution for an offense like this involving trees, he said.

It is “illegal to disturb, move, replant, remove or kill” Western Joshua trees, which are a candidate for species under California’s Endangered Species Act, according to California’s Department of Fish and Wildlife. The spiky desert icons, part of the agave family, are native to the Mojave Desert, can grow up to 40 feet high and can live for 150 years on average.

The wildlife department was tipped off to the illegal uprooting by a neighbor who called in February to alert the agency’s tip line, according to Poston and a joint news release from the prosecutor’s office and the wildlife department.

The couple was gone by the time a responding wildlife officer arrived, but he found “what was clearly a freshly dug and refilled hole,” the department said. Using a backhoe, the officer was able to dig up the buried trees, the department said.

The property, which is about an acre in size, is about 5 miles from Joshua Tree National Park, according to Poston.

The couple can move forward with construction of a house on the property, though many protected trees remain, Poston said. As part of the diversion agreement, they will also volunteer at the national park, Poston said.

The married couple was cooperative in the investigation, though they were initially reluctant to admit fault or responsibility, Poston said.

https://cse.google.com/cse.js?cx=748c01c09655f7506

“Most California citizens who reside in Joshua Tree habitat revere these iconic desert species, more so now than ever because of its degraded population status,” said Nathaniel Arnold, deputy chief of the state wildlife department’s law enforcement division.

“We’re pleased to see the citizen tip led to a successful disposition and we hope it serves as a deterrent to others who may think it is acceptable to unlawfully remove Joshua Trees to make way for development,” the release states.

The landowners originally faced a fine up to $4,100 and/or up to six months in jail for each count.

The pair is slated to return to court in December. If they do not comply with all terms of the diversion agreement, the San Bernardino County District Attorney plans to proceed with prosecution, the news release states.

If you kill a Joshua Tree and if the evidence is there we will prosecute. It’s a crime. You don’t have to like the law, but it’s the law and we take it very seriously,” Poston said.

Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Trevor Bauer is accused of assault

The Pasadena Police Department is looking into an allegation of assault involving Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Trevor Bauer, a spokesman with the department told the media on Tuesday.

“It is an active investigation,” said Lt. Bill Grisafe.

The attorney for the accuser, Marc Garelick, said in a statement that his client, whom he refers to as “Ms. Hill,” has “sought and obtained an order for Protection from the Court against Mr. Trevor Bauer, under the Domestic Violence Prevention Act.”

“The order is a result of a recent assault that took place at the hands of Mr. Bauer where Ms. Hill suffered severe physical and emotional pain,” Garelick said. “Our goal is to keep Mr. Bauer from contacting our client in any way possible.”

Bauer denies the allegations, according to a statement from his agent, Jon Fetterolf.

“Mr. Bauer had a brief and wholly consensual sexual relationship initiated by Ms. Hill beginning in April 2021,” Fetterolf said. “We have messages that show Ms. Hill repeatedly asking for ‘rough’ sexual encounters involving requests to be ‘choked out’ and slapped in the face. In both of their encounters, Ms. Hill drove from San Diego to Mr. Bauer’s residence in Pasadena, Calif. where she went on to dictate what she wanted from him sexually and he did what was asked. Following each of her only two meetings with Mr. Bauer, Ms. Hill spent the night and left without incident, continuing to message Mr. Bauer with friendly and flirtatious banter. In the days following their second and final encounter, Ms. Hill shared photos of herself and indicated that she had sought medical care for a concussion. Mr. Bauer responded with concern and confusion, and Ms. Hill was neither angry nor accusatory.

https://cse.google.com/cse.js?cx=748c01c09655f7506

“Mr. Bauer and Ms. Hill have not corresponded in over a month and have not seen each other in over six weeks. Her basis for filing a protection order is nonexistent, fraudulent, and deliberately omits key facts, information, and her own relevant communications. Any allegations that the pair’s encounters were not 100% consensual are baseless, defamatory, and will be refuted to the fullest extent of the law.”

MLB is aware of the investigation and looking into the allegation.

https://cse.google.com/cse.js?cx=748c01c09655f7506

“The Dodgers were made aware of the allegations against Trevor Bauer late this afternoon and immediately contacted Major League Baseball, which will be handling this matter,” the team said in a statement. “The Dodgers take any allegations of this nature very seriously, but will have no further comment at this time.”

Bauer, 30, is the reigning National League Cy Young award winner.

A 10-year veteran of Major League Baseball, he pitched for the Arizona Diamondbacks, the Cleveland Indians and the Cincinnati Reds before joining the Dodgers in 2021.

‘OMG’ Britney spears has been pushing her attorney to petition to end her conservatorship in days since hearing.

In the week since Britney Spears’ bombshell court hearing in which she asked to terminate her nearly 13-year court-ordered conservatorship, it was reported from the source close to the singer’s family that she has “begged” her attorney, Samuel Ingham, III to file a petition to end the arrangement once and for all.

“Britney has spoken to Sam multiple times since last week and she has asked him point-blank, once again, to file the paperwork to end this,” this source told the media.

A second source close to Spears confirmed that the singer, who has been vacationing in Hawaii, had spoken to Ingham and urged him to move forward with the necessary legal efforts.

https://cse.google.com/cse.js?cx=748c01c09655f7506

Ingham has yet to file the petition, but two sources with knowledge of the situation say that a filing could be imminent.

During the hearing last Wednesday, Spears spoke for more than 20 minutes and called the conservatorship “abusive.” She also said that she felt forced by her conservators to perform at times, take medication and use birth control against her will.

It was said that four attorneys who specialize in conservatorship law in the state of California, as well as a legal ethics attorney, about what needs to take place for Spears to be able to potentially end the conservatorship.

“If my client was conserved and said I want to terminate the conservatorship, I would bring that petition even if I personally disagreed with it,” Matthew Kanin, a Los Angeles county probate attorney who specializes in estate planning, trust and probate law said.

Erin Joyce, an ethics attorney in California echoed those sentiments.

“Why I think this case is interesting to ethics lawyers across the country is that when you have an attorney who is taking actions that are directly opposite the interests and wishes of their client, then that becomes an ethics issue, not just a probate issue.”

https://cse.google.com/cse.js?cx=748c01c09655f7506

Ingham was appointed as Spears’ attorney by Judge Reva Goetz in 2008. During her remarks in court last week, Spears stated more than once that she wanted to hire an attorney of her choice. Judge Brenda Penny, who is currently handling the case, has the authority to appoint new counsel for Spears.

“My biggest takeaway on all of this is being denied an attorney of her choice right from the beginning of the case,” Tom Coleman, an attorney with Spectrum Institute, a non-profit organization that supports conservatorship reform in the state of California, told the media “From that moment forward, her fate was doomed … the court form when she was served said ‘you have a right to an attorney of your choice.’ And the statute itself says that as well.”

Following Spears’ remarks in court, Ingham told Penny he understood he is serving at the prerogative of the court.

“If the judge thought the current court-appointed counsel wasn’t doing the job adequately or even without any judgments on adequacy if the court simply wanted to grant the protected person’s wish for a new attorney then it could be done without much notice or warning,” Kanin said.

South Africa’s former President Jacob Zuma has been sentenced to 15 months in prison by the country’s highest court.

https://cse.google.com/cse.js?cx=748c01c09655f7506

Former South African president, Jacob Zuma has been sentenced to 15 months in prison after being found guilty for defying a court order to appear before an inquiry probing wide-ranging allegations of corruption during his tenure from 2009 to 2018.

This is the first time in South Africa’s history that a former president has been sentenced to prison.

Zuma, who wasn’t present for the ruling on Tuesday, June 29, was ordered to hand himself over within five days to a police station in his hometown of Nkandla in KwaZulu-Natal province or in Johannesburg.

Back in January, the Constitutional Court ruled that Zuma had to respond to questions from a judicial commission headed by Deputy Chief Justice Raymond Zondo. But the 79-year-old former intelligence operative accused the court and Zondo of bias, walked out of one scheduled panel hearing in November, and boycotted another in February.

https://cse.google.com/cse.js?cx=748c01c09655f7506

The panel responded by filing contempt charges against him.

“The Constitutional Court can do nothing but conclude that Mr. Zuma is guilty of the crime of contempt of court,” acting Chief Justice Sisi Khampepe said in a ruling in Johannesburg on Tuesday. “Mr. Jacob Gedleyihlekisa Zuma is sentenced to undergo 15 months imprisonment.”

According to report, the government estimates more than 500 billion rand ($35 billion) was stolen from the state during Zuma’s rule, and at least 40 witnesses who’ve appeared before in court linked the ex-president to the looting spree.

However, Zuma, who was forced to quit in 2018, has denied wrongdoing and says the allegations against him are part of a smear campaign.
