Pastor Giwa: Buhari sees Kanu, Igboho as threats, will release them after 2023 polls

A popular Nigerian cleric, Pastor Adewale Giwa, has disclosed that the leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu, will be set free by President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration after the 2023 general elections.

The cleric also revealed that the known face of the agitation for Yoruba Nation, Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho, will equally be released from Benin Republic after the polls.

Pastor Giwa, who stated this during the weekend, said President Buhari’s administration saw the two agitators as a threat to the 2023 elections.

Poor Kaduna LGAs forced to contribute N115 million for Buhari’s security

The taxing of the local governments came on the heels of Mr Buhari’s visit to Kaduna to inaugurate several projects, including the re-modelled Murtala Muhammed Square, the Infectious Disease Hospital, Dangote Peugeot Automobile Nigeria Ltd and the Sabon Gari market in Zaria.

The Ministry of Local Government Affairs in Kaduna ordered local government areas to provide N115 million to procure extra security personnel in the state ahead of President Muhammadu Buhari’s visit on Thursday, Peoples Gazette has learnt.

This is contained in a letter signed by Iliyasu Hussain, the director inspectorate.

The letter, dated January 19, is titled ‘Approval to Provide Security Towards the President’s Visit’.

“I am directed to convey approval for the following local governments to incur expenditures to cater for additional security support to security agencies and logistics, preparatory to the visit of the president and commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria to Kaduna state for commissioning of projects,” the letter said.

Buhari should declare “full-fledged” war on bandits – Gov Bello charges

He vowed that the government and security agencies will intensify efforts to ensure the perpetrators are apprehended.

Since bandits have been designated as terrorists, Niger’s governor, Abubakar Bello, believes it is time to wage a “full-fledged war” against them.

The governor was reacting to a recent attack on the settlements of Nakudna and Wurukuci in Niger state’s Shiroro LGA, which reportedly resulted in the deaths of over 30 people.

Nigerian govt reveals some agreements reached with Twitter

The microblogging site also agreed to comply with applicable tax obligations on its operations under Nigerian law.

The Nigerian government has listed some of the agreements reached with Twitter before the suspension of its ban.

AMB recalls that the government lifted the ban on Twitter in Nigeria on January 13th.

Director-General of the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi, revealed that some of the agreements reached with Twitter include legal registration of its operations, taxation, and managing prohibited publications in line with Nigerian laws.

Kashifu, in a statement in Abuja, said the approval was given following a memo written to the President by Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Prof Isa Ali Ibrahim.

The federal government has lifted the suspension of Twitter operations in Nigeria after approval by President Muhammadu Buhari.

The decision was announced by the Chairman Technical Committee Nigeria-Twitter Engagement and Director-General National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi, CCIE.
