Photos of Uche Nwosu, former Imo State governorship candidate and son-in-law of former Imo state governor, Rochas Okorocha, who was arrested on Sunday, December 26, have been shared online.



Nwosu was arrested during a service at St Peter’s Anglican Church, Eziama Obaire in Nkwerre Local Government Area.

Ghana Police arrest talk host Captain Smart over his ‘unsavoury’ radio commentary

Radio and television talk host Blessed Godsbrain Smart, popularly known as Captain Smart has been arrested by the police for what the police say was “unsavoury pronouncements”.
He was arrested Thursday by the Nima Divisional Police Command and is in police custody assisting with investigations into the said “unsavoury pronouncements”.

A police statement signed and issued by the Accra Regional Police Public Affairs Officer, DSP Juliana Obeng said Captain Smart has been cautioned on the offence of offensive conduct conducive to breaches of the peace as provided under section 207 of the Criminal Act, 1990 (Act 29).

“He is presently in police custody assisting the investigations”, the statement added.

Meanwhile the National Media Commission (NMC) has condemned Captain Smart.

“This, by all standards, crosses the line of robust and critical broadcasting and transforms your radio station into a megaphone of war,” a letter signed by the Executive Secretary of the NMC, Mr George Sarpong to the Chief Executive Officer of Onua FM, said.

According to the NMC, part of the station’s broadcast raised concern for the peace and security of the country in a manner that demanded immediate regulatory action.

“We are particularly concerned about a recent broadcast in which “Captain Smart” calls for insurrection against the state of Ghana and its institutions.

One killed as SUV crashes into Walmart

Police in Kansas City — Kansas begins investigation after an SUV hit two before crashing into a Walmart at 108th Street and Parallel Parkway Thursday afternoon.
Authorities said one person died. A second person suffered critical injuries. The driver of the SUV also was critically hurt, according to investigators.

“It’s just tragic that people can be going about their daily lives and one minute, they are going into a shop and the next minute they are seriously hurt. It’s just random. It’s just crazy,” said Stephen Baughman.

Police arrest fake soldier who tries to free detained Suspect in Niger. A man dressed up as a soldier and went to secure the release of a detained suspect has been arrested in Niger State.
Emmanuel Dominic, 28, was arrested when he went to Maitumbi police station in Minna to free his friend who was in custody, police said.
During interaction with the police operatives, Dominic who wore Nigerian Army service number 05313, was discovered to be fake as he could not answer some routine questions usually posed to security personnel. He was then arrested and interrogated whereupon he confessed that he was not a soldier but paraded himself as one in order to secure the release of his friend in police custody.

Police arrest Oduduwa founder over death of OAU masters degree student, Timothy Adegoke. The founder of Oduduwa University, Dr Rahmon Adedoyin, has been arrested in connection with the death of an OAU student who came from Abuja to sit for his examination at the OAU distance learning centre, Moro, Osun State.

Adedoyin is also the chairman of Hilton Hotel and Resort, Ile Ife, where the deceased was said to have lodged upon his arrival from Abuja. He is currently in police detention, undergoing interrogation in connection with the case while awaiting the autopsy report from the hospital,’ the statement added. The police commended the university’s management and family of the deceased for giving a chance to investigate the matter, promising that justice will be served.

Police arrest 12 suspects in murder of CSP Kazeem Abonde killed on raid criminal hideouts in Lagos. Lagos police has arrested 12 suspects in connection with the gruesome murder of police officer Kazeem Abonde, a Chief Superintendent of Police.

A statement signed and issued on Tuesday in Lagos by the Command’s Spokesperson, CSP Adekunle Ajisebutu, said the suspects were arrested after diligent investigation was carried out.
“Arrest of one Ismaila Abdullahi Haruna, aged 23 years, and 11 other suspects was made possible as a result of a four-week intensive but diligent investigation carried out by crack detectives of the Command.

The late Kazeem a former Operations Officer of the Command, was killed on September 23 during a raid on criminal hideout at Ajao Estate, Lagos.

The Chief of Defence Staff, General Lucky Irabor, has frowned at the manner at which the Lagos State Judicial Panel of Inquiry on Restitution for Victims of SARS Related Abuses and Other Matters (Lagos EndSARS Panel), report leaked yesterday.

Irabor equally faulted the attack on Soldiers, noting that “we will not at this point think that Nigerians should make disparaging remarks regarding the Armed Forces of Nigeria, in the sense that we are a professional armed forces. If there are issues, of course, we address them within the ambit of the provisions.”

Do not give your phones to policemen at checkpoints to search – DCP warns Nigerians

“Tell your associates and friends on the street, if you present your papers and they (the policemen) say they are not okay; just tell them, police take me to your Divisional Police Officer. There is no point arguing with them because the man is deaf.”

Deputy Commissioner of Police, DCP Bassey Ewah, on Wednesday warned Nigerians not to give any policeman who stopped them at the checkpoint their phones without a warrant.
He noted that if the police were on an investigation, they would present a warrant and then demand for the phone.

Ewah disclosed this while answering questions during a programme organised by the Police Community Relation Committee in Lagos State.
