Ebonyi’s governor, Dave Umahi, believes the state “can never” be a part of the proposed Biafra republic.
The governor spoke during an event in Abakaliki, the capital of Ebonyi, on Thursday.
“We are better in a fair and equitable Nigeria,” Umahi declared, adding that the state will not separate from the country and join Biafra.
Actress Rita Edochie has lashed out at Igbos she accused of “denying being Biafrans because of what they stand to benefit today”.
The veteran actress who also shared a video of a “Fulani woman” denying being Fulani while begging for Christmas present from an Igbo man, accused these Igbos of forgetting about what tomorrow might turn out to be.
The trial of the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu has been adjourned to the 19th and 20th of January 2022. Nnamdi had protested the refusal of the DSS to allow some of his lawyers access into the Court.
DSS brought Kanu into the courtroom at 9:52am.
The IPOB leader made his third court appearance since June when the security agents repatriated him to Nigeria.
Meanwhile, some groups were seen outside the court protesting the death of Ahmed Gulak.
Recall that in May, Gulak who was a former Special Adviser on Politics to the then President, Goodluck Jonathan, was killed by gunmen in Owerri, Imo State.
IPOB said it called off the order after consultations with elders, traditional and religious leaders from the region. The group’s Director of Media and Publicity, Emma Powerful, made this disclosure in a statement. He stated that it is not IPOB’s intention to add to the pains of the people it claims to fight for since all business activities would be brought to a halt with the sit-at-home order.
“Following the genuine intervention of our elders, esteemed traditional institutions/rulers and religious leaders, and after due consideration of the positive impacts of their engagement, and sequel to the fact that our elders have spoken in our terms, the leadership of IPOB, ably led by Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, hereby and immediately call off the one-week sit-at-home earlier declared to commence November 5 to November 10.
Popular Nollywood Actor, Yul Edochie has asked the Nigerian government to release the leader of Indigenous People of Biafra, (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, before the upcoming Anambra governorship election.
It will be recalled that the Indigenous People of Biafra had threatened to shut down the whole of southeast region for one week if its leader, Nnamdi Kanu is not released on or before November 4, 2021.
The family of Nnamdi Kanu, had declared that the resolution of the growing agitation for Biafra can only come through negotiations and not by the use of force against the agitators.
“I used my years of experience in Kiri Kiri Prison to Lecture Senator Abaribe over his pro-Biafra activism” says Shehu Sani.
Ex-Senator Shehu Sani, said he taught his good friend, Senator Eyinnaya Abaribe how to live in prison should he be prosecuted over his pro-Biafra activism.
He made this known on his Facebook page where he shared a throwback photo of himself discussing with Abaribe on the floor of the Red Chamber.
He explained that Abaribe had also tried his best to make him believe in the ideologies of Biafra.
“My good friend Senator Abaribe was trying to convert my citizenship to Biafra while I used to give him lectures on how to live in prison when they come for him, using my years of experience in Kiri Kiri, Port Harcourt, and Aba Prisons in the 90s,” he wrote.
Sheikh Ahmad Gumi, has warned that foreign jihadists would come into the country should bandits be declared terrorists, saying the development would come at a price.
He also called on clergymen to talk to Sunday Igboho, and Nnamdi Kanu just as he does to bandits.
Gumi said there would be severe consequences, if the government declared bandits as terrorists.

The family spoke as Anglican Bishops in the Church of Nigeria, Province of the Niger, have condemned the amended charges against the IPOB leader.
This is even as the Anambra State government has adopted Saturdays for normal school days following the weekly sit –at-home on Mondays declared by the IPOB.
Prince Emmanuel Kanu who spoke in a media interview urged the federal government to release the IPOB leader and engage him in dialogue, arguing that the issues he raised are germane.
His words:” Nnamdi Kanu is only asking for three things – justice, equity and fairness. You can’t achieve peace with guns and bullets. It’s impossible!
“ Dialogue is the only way out. We are Biafrans. You can’t take that away from us. Nnamdi Kanu is the face of the agitation because the issues he is raising are genuine.
In Anambra, Saturday classes will commence on October 30, 2021 according to a memo from the government that has been released.
Titled, ‘Anambra State Government Approves Saturday as School Day.’ The memo reads “I am directed by the Executive Secretary to inform you that the Anambra State Govt. has approved Saturdays as school days in place of Mondays.
The South Eastern states of Anambra and Enugu have extended their school day to Saturday due to the disruption of educational and other activities in as a result of the compulsory sit-at-home announced by the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) to push for the demand for the unconditional release of its detained leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.
Though IPOB has suspended the Monday sit-at-home, the order continues to be enforced by unknown gunmen reportedly sympathetic to its agitation.
“It is impulsive and reckless to order Ndigbo to observe one-week sit-at-home” – Ohanaeze tells IPOB. The Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, on Sunday, kicked against the one-week sit-at-home declared by the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB.
AMB reported that the pro-Biafra group had threatened a one-week sit-at-home if their leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, was not released forthwith.
The declaration, targeted at the November 6 Anambra election, has been attracting wild condemnation.
In a statement by the Secretary-General of the Chidi Ibeh-led apex Igbo socio-cultural organization, Mazi Okechukwu Isiguzoro, he said Ndigbo should not obey the order this time.
He said, “any declaration that unleashes untold hardship, leads to the collapse of commercial and industrial activities, boycott of Anambra elections, and interrupts the academic calendar in the Southeastern states is nonsensical, absurd, and anti-Igbo agenda, for the enemy’s amusement.”
He added that “IPOB should discern that there was self-determination struggle in Africa before now. Nelson Mandela spent 27 years in jail and never in the history of the movement against Apartheid was starvation, anguish, and catastrophe unleashed on Black South Africans by ANC.
“It is impulsive and reckless to order Ndigbo to observe one-week sit-at-home when it’s obvious that Nnamdi Kanu will not be released without the approval of courts.
“IPOB should revisit and nullify the one-week sit-at-home or they will likely lose the support of the Ndigbo henceforth, Ndigbo must participate in Anambra election and nothing should stop it”.
While describing the order as the enslavement of Ndigbo, Isiguzoro said it was time “for the Igbo to rise to the occasion and end being trampled with orders from overseas by those without any investments in the South-East”.
