Tension As Sunday Igboho’s Top Lawyer Resigns

All doesn’t seem to be well amongst individuals fighting for the freedom of detained Yoruba nation agitator, Sunday Adeyemo, also known as Sunday Igboho.
This is following the resignation of Pelumi Olajengbesi, one of the lawyers representing Igboho in Nigeria.

Trouble seem to have started after the leader of Ilana Omo Oodua, Professor Banji Akintoye had threatened that no governorship election would be allowed to hold in Ekiti and Osun this year.

GATE petitions US over alleged ‘state-sponsored’ terrorism in Nigeria; tackles Buhari on Igboho, Nnamdi Kanu

A United States-based group, Global Advocates For Terrorism Eradication, GATE, on Friday, petitioned the office of the United States Secretary of State, Antony J. Blinke, demanding that the United States Government should designate some Nigerian Government officials as sponsors of terrorism, alleging that “from all available indices, what is happening in Nigeria is State-sponsored Terrorism”.

GATE said its core objectives are to stop the provision of material support, funding and prosecutorial protection of terrorists by state actors. In a statement by its Principal Advocate, Robert Berry, the 26-page petition alleged that the Nigerian government was allegedly sponsoring terrorism by carrying out terrorist activities including training, fundraising, financing, and recruitment of terrorists and terrorist activities.

‘Who Is Now Financing Who’ – Sunday Igboho Slams FG Over Sponsor Allegations

Yoruba nation activist, Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho has questioned the claim by the Minister of Justice and Attorney General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami that he was being sponsored by a National Assembly member.

The Minister, on Friday during a press conference in Abuja stated that the secessionist has 43 accounts in different banks, stressing that some financers of Igboho have consistently deposited funds in the accounts.

Reacting to the claim, Ighoho, in a statement by his counsel, Chief Yomi Aliu said he is a businessman and not a terrorist. He also challenged Malami to mention the particular lawmaker he claimed to be his major financer.

Sunday Igboho Says His Under Pressure From Politicians To Beg Buhari

Igboho said some politicians have been “pressurizing” him and his wife to sign documents they could use to beg the presidency on his behalf. Let the whole world be aware, especially the presidency, that Sunday Adeyemo is totally apolitical with no special love or hatred for any political party as he has friends in all.“

Yoruba Nation agitator, Sunday Igboho has alleged that some politicians are pressurizing him to beg the Presidency. Speaking through his counsel, Yomi Alliyu, the agitator said any document claiming he authorized any politician was fake.
In a statement signed by Alliyu, Igboho said he was being pressured by politicians who were unconcerned about his incarceration in Benin Republic.

“The Federal Government has received the report on financiers of Adeniyi Sunday Adeyemo a.k.a Sunday Igboho. The report revealed that Sunday Igboho is a Director and signatory to Adesun International Concept Limited registered on 23rd April, 2010.

Chief Sunday Adeyemo, aka Sunday Igboho, was being sponsored by a Member of the National Assembly.

Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister Of Justice, Abubakar Malami (SAN), disclosed this at a press conference in Abuja on Friday. LEADERSHIP recall that President Muhammadu Buhari had during his 61st Independence anniversary speech, said that a member of the National Assembly was sponsoring agitators.

DSS releases two Igboho aides after 114 days in custody

The two remaining aides of embattled Yoruba Nation agitator, Sunday Adeyemo, alias Sunday Igboho, who have been in the Department of State Services’ custody since July 1 have been released.

Jamiu Noah Oyetunji and Amudat Habibat Babatunde (Lady K) have been in DSS custody since July, even after Justice Obiora Egwuatu of the Federal High Court, Abuja ordered the release of all 12 detained associates of the Yoruba nation agitator on August 4.

Ibrahim David Salami, one of the lawyers of Yoruba Nation agitator, Sunday Igboho has said that sending the activist back to Nigerian would mean certain death.

Salami said Igboho is safer in Benin Republic than in Nigeria. According to him, Igboho “is not at all safe in Nigeria. Sending him to Nigeria means certain death.”
