How long is Victor Osimhen out? Injury timeline, return date

Victor Osimhen — born 29 December 1998 — is a Nigerian professional footballer who plays as a striker for Serie A club Napoli and the Nigeria national team.

Three weeks ago, Napoli football fans held their deep breath after their striker Osimhen went off injured in Napoli’s 3-2 loss.
Osimhen suffered a nasty facial injury following a collision with Inter Milan Milan’s Skriniar as they both went for the ball.

Although Osimhen had been injured before for Napoli, The severe damage of the injury on his face just by taking a look at it from the screens left many people worried.
But more importantly, Napoli fans were worried that their striker would miss against AC Milan this weekend.

Osimhen did go through a complicated but successful surgery on his face before it was confirmed that he would miss three months of action, which all but confirmed Nigerians fears.
However, against Napoli report, Osimhen returned to training, although individual training, just two weeks after his surgery.

And a few days later, it was reported that he could make a return earlier than scheduled in the game against AC Milan this weekend- albeit with the aid of a prospective mask.

The player will undergo further medical examinations in the coming days and if the recovery is going the right way, Napoli doctor Raffaele Canonico will pass all the information to Ruggiero to begin the realization of the mask.

Osimhen started his career at the Ultimate Strikers Academy, based in Lagos, Nigeria. In January 2016, after being noticed for his performances at the 2015 FIFA U-17 World Cup, Osimhen committed to a pre-contract with VfL Wolfsburg, stipulating that he would officially join the club in January 2017.

Osimhen began his senior career in Germany at VfL Wolfsburg in 2017. Following a season and a half at the club, he moved to Belgian side Charleroi on loan in 2018–19, before moving to France at Lille. In 2020, Osimhen transferred to Serie A club Napoli for a club-record fee of €70 million.
